Our Flax oil is a pure, natural source of healthy fat which comes directly from Albertan farmers and processed with the most natural, ancient method…
Having been around for centuries, the tiny flaxseed is gaining the reputation of being one of the most powerful plant-based omega-3 sources on the planet!
You know those high in omega-3 eggs you see in the grocery store? Yup, flaxseed is the magic ingredient fed to those chickens!
In case you think that flax is a rarely grown, speciality seed, I’ll give you a tip for how to find it– the flax fields are the ones that look like a light blue sea, consisting of beautiful perennial flowers!
Now that you know this, get ready to see flax fields everywhere as Canada is the world’s leading producer of flax.
Each flax seed consists of 30% fat and Farmers Own uses a process called “cold-pressing” to crush the seed using naturally applied weight to excrete the essential oil from its shell.
Not using high temperatures to excrete the oil ensures that no essential nutrients are lost or broken down due to the heat.

FAQ
What is the difference between feeding ground flax and flax oil?
Flax oil is a more concentrated source of omega fats. Ground flax does have benefits as well, like its source of fiber and protein…but if you’re looking for something that stays stable and has its omega content already broken down and ready for your horse to digest, I’d suggest the oil.
How much ground flax is equal to an ounce of flax oil, in regards to its omega content?
1.5-2 cups of ground flax is equivalent to 1-2 ounces of flax oil.
Can I give it to my dog as well? If so, how much?
Yes, you can! Dogs love flax oil. We recommend you give 1 tbsp to your big dog and 1 tsp to your little yappers.
Can I take the same flax oil I give to my horse?
Umm… yes! It’s food-grade, and pure as ever. We have recipes on this page and our facebook page. I recommend trying a summer salad vinaigrette. Tasty is an understatement! Take a tbsp a day to fight inflammation in your body and build up your immune system!
Where is the flax grown?
Right here in Southern Alberta. When you buy our product, you are supporting Canadian farmers. I think that’s something you should feel proud about!
I want to become a distributor for Farmers Own. How do I qualify?

I’m feeding at least 15 horses a day. How much is it per horse per day if I purchase a 5 gallon bucket?
If you were feeding 15 horses 1 ounce a day it will last you 42.6 days and cost you $0.42 a day.
What is the shelf life on your oil?
2 years. Our cold-pressed process produces the highest quality oil, keepin’ it fresh!
